Sharon Guevara has been with the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio for 29 years. She holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology from University of Texas at San Antonio. She has been in the School of Health Professions for 15 years and facilitated the coordination and establishment of the School of Health Professions Welcome Center in 2004. In the positions she has held within the University, she has always worked with applicants and students in an advisory capacity and has provided assistance with program, career, and academic counseling. She enjoys the interaction with applicants and students and derives satisfaction in helping shape future careers.
Mary Gilson

Mary Gilson retired from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2003, after serving in the capacity of Assistant to the Registrar for School of Health Professions for 15 years. The School of Health Professions Welcome Center was fortunate to acquire her expertise as a part time pre-admissions counselor after she retired. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge about all the programs in School of Health Professions. She has a great talent of making applicants and students feel at ease when they are faced with all the complexities of meeting program requirements, being competitive, and exploring career options.
Vanessa Torres

Vanessa Torres has been with the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio since August 2002 and with the School of Health Professions Welcome Center since January 2007. Vanessa brings excellence in professionalism, exceptional communication skills and innovation to the Welcome Center. Her strengths lie in her customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills. She adds harmony and orderliness to the office with her great organizational skills. Vanessa is truly a valuable and powerful asset to the Welcome Center. Her intent is to enter the Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Development Program at the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio.
Mathew Phelps

School of Health Professions Welcome Center
Matthew Phelps is the newest member of the School of Health Professions Welcome Center team. He serves as part-time administrative support. Matthew is currently a full-time student at the University of Texas at San Antonio, and he plans to graduate with a BS in Mathematics and BA in Psychology in the Spring of 2010. His previous experience in recruitment and educational awareness is valuable when interacting with prospective students. He brings a wealth of expertise in analytic problem solving and human interaction to the Welcome Center.
