COORDINATED PROGRAM IN DIETETICS
- Coordinated didactic and supervised experiences – students have the opportunity to integrate knowledge and skills along the course of study. Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the CDR exam to become a Registered Dietitian.
- Service learning opportunities – students have multiple opportunities to participate in health fairs, summer camps, and community outreach, as well as a unique experience with the South Texas Environmental Education and Research Program (STEER).
- Exceptional and timely area of concentration – the emphasis of the supervised experiences revolves around Health Promotion/Disease Prevention and Treatment.
- Interdisciplinary curriculum – CPD students will have unique opportunities to learn and share experiences with students in public health, dental school, kinesiology, and other allied health sciences programs.

- Diverse rotations and preceptors – a variety of supervised experiences with talented preceptors. The experiences will include a week of professional development in a rotation of choice, and two weeks of staff relief in preparation for entry into the profession.
- Geographic diversity and multicultural environment – didactic courses and supervised experiences are offered at two exciting locations: San Antonio or Laredo Campus Extension. Unique fieldwork experiences in areas of extreme needs near the Texas/Mexico border.

- Technologically advanced – most courses are computer enhanced, some are computer based. Courses will be delivered to and from San Antonio and Laredo using state-of- the- art video teleconference technology.
- Early and frequent client/patient/consumer contact experience – Students start experiential learning their first semester in the program and continue through the course of study.
